FAQ
Do you travel for photography?
Yes! I love to travel both domestically and internationally and do so often — for leisure and for work. Travel fees vary depending on timing and location, so please fill out my contact form to receive more information
What is your approach to taking photos?
I love to tell people stories in a meaningful and intentional way. I love capturing in between moments and care a ton about details. I also love my customers dearly and want you to feel loved, heard, and cared for throughout the entire process! I love helping plan anything you need and will be by your side the whole session!
What do you specialize in?
I specialize in creating timeless, dreamy, romantic, elegant, filmy images! I love adding in blurred images for a cinematic feel and work SO well with people that want non-traditional, candid and organic memories.
Can you photoshop me?
No.
It wouldn't be true to my style of honest photography. I know, and I hate, all those perfect images of flawless people / families / interiors depicted in media’s like Instagram or Pinterest. You have nothing to prove and this quest leads to nothing but dissatisfaction and a lower self-esteem.
Please, treat this experience as an opportunity to connect with yourself or your family, drop your insecurities and to make some lovely memories. Embrace who you are!
And, if you’re a parent, trust me, your kids won't look back on these photos and think anything but 'look how they loved me'. And they will thank you for that.
Can I extend the session on the day of?
Yes with pleasure! I only book one session / day so be sure I’ll be 100% available for you.
What kind of gear do you use?
Oh it’s just me and my tiny camera !
I will never invade your space with cables, reflectors, flashes. Not even a tripod! I work with a prime 50mm lens.
Depending on the situation, I sometimes use 2 cameras at the same time, and lots of really fun and unique analog cameras.
Do you work for free?
Do you? I’m afraid some Likes on social media’s and a couple of goodies ain’t gonna pay the bills.
Creating unique and emotive photographs is what I do for a living.
Can you do newborn photography?
Yes, and I love it.
I love connecting with postpartum mothers on a human level to document this sacred time, gently and honestly.
It is an honour to witness the wake of bringing a human into this world. At the session itself, I tune into mom and baby. You will dictate the pace and length of our session and I remain sensitive to your needs. I tend to focus on the tenderness of it all; the bonding that’s taking place, the preciousness of this new life, the magnificence of the human body. We can discuss beforehand, what you’re keen on capturing and it would be my honour to do so.
I’m always careful to create safe and comfortable spaces to be vulnerable and I will honor your boundaries.
As far as when to book, there is something special happening at every stage. We could capture those freshly born moments within 48hrs of birth, the sleepy 5-10 day period, or beyond. I leave some room to adjust your session date based on when baby arrives and how you are feeling.
Do you provide props for my newborn session?
I don’t do props.
I don’t pose babies.
It’s true that this style was a trend like 15 years ago, and I take a great pride in not being a part of it.
I don’t want to create pictures that will make us all cringe in the years to come.
Babies are perfect just as they are, from the way they naturally stretch, their sweet little yawns, how they wrap all their fingers so tightly around yours, or when they curl up against your chest, babies are perfect in every single way.
No props around them will make them more beautiful, babies are not meant to change outfit 3 times during our session, wear a synthetic headband or swaddled up and put in a basket “because it’s cute”.
Also, let’s keep in mind that in order to use these props and poses, your baby has to be totally asleep and moldeable, and no way I will bother your precious baby right when they’re the happiest.
I do timeless portraits of newborns that will take you back to that place of remembering exactly how your little one was when they had just arrived, and I photograph your children the way I photograph my own: with love, care and respect.
My kids are wild, they can’t handle a 1:30h session
I’m a mother too, I get it, I really do.
I don’t expect your child to participate the whole time, or even do anything I might ask. It’s entirely ok if they don’t. That’s one of the things I really love about kids - they are 100% real at all times. With me, all feelings are valid, welcome and I respect them, exactly as I would do for my own children.
I want you to feel the freedom to surrender to the moment and know that I specialize in honest photography. There will be plenty of time to capture the beauty and the wildness that is life.
My place is not photogenic enough
Honestly, it doesn’t matter what your home looks like. You don’t even have to do anything to prepare for my arrival. You certainly don’t have to clean up. These images are for you to remember what this time is made of. Part of the fun, looking back at older photographs, is seeing what beloved items were in the picture. Let go of the notion it must be perfect or staged, and let’s embrace the home as it does us.
That brings me to why I love photographing families at home. It is a safe space for you to be entirely yourselves and let your love for one another flow freely.
How do I get my images?
Your private online gallery will be ready a week after our session.
Depending on the package you are willing to get, and after payment is completed, I will send your selection or all the pics to your email via wetransfer. It’s a clickable link that allows you to download your files on your devices.
We found someone cheaper.
You’ll get what you paid for.
We’re all under some sort of budget.
But there is no such thing as a cheap and reliable seasoned photographer. However, there are plenty of random people with a camera who will take advantage of your uncertain priorities.
Really, anyone can set themselves up as a photographer, as this is an unregulated industry without any certifications needed.
You can get a cheap entry-level camera and lens for a few hundred bucks, throw up a website for next to nothing, and ask for friends or your own kids to pose for you. Or go to an exquisitely-styled photography workshop, take some pics and pretend having a portfolio.
Why are they charging so low?
- is it because they know they’re lacking experience?
- is it because they cannot afford a professional 5 figure gear (a camera body with a dual slot for SD cards, expensive prime lenses, plus a second backup camera and even a third backup camera depending on the situation)?
- is it because they cannot afford being insured and buying all the necessary editing software and cloud storage?
- is it because they won’t spend hours / days / weeks editing the pictures because they aren’t being compensated enough for their time?
Post-processing is overwhelming.
- is it because they know they can’t value higher their work and the service they provide?
- is it because they are not taking this journey seriously?
We know sad stories with local side-hustlers photographers who last minute decided it was not worth it to show up. Or who simply gave up and embraced a more rewarding job, and ghosted some of their customers who are still waiting for their galleries.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had people frantically reach out to me for a last-minute session because their photographer just fell off the face of the Earth.
A photographer is so much more than someone with thumbs and a couple of
cameras.
A seasoned photographer will do all they can to build authentic and long-lasting trust, we care about our reputation.
